One month before Easter, representatives of the Romanian Patriarchate announce that they are closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East, where pilgrimages to the Holy Land have been canceled due to conflicts. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem remains closed, and the faithful fear that they will not be able to take the Light from the Holy Tomb. The spokesperson for the Romanian Patriarchate, Adrian Agachi, stated that alternative solutions are being considered, including land transport.

Precise details about how the Light will be brought will be communicated during Holy Week. Theologians suggest that the Patriarchate of Jerusalem will find ways to send the Light to accessible areas for global distribution, possibly with the help of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2009, the Light has been brought to Romania by plane, but the current conflict has affected ecumenical tourism, postponing pilgrimages for an indefinite period.
