UMB, the association led by businessman Dorinel Umbrărescu, has won the contract for the construction of section 1 of the 'Unirii' A8 Highway Târgu Neamț-Iași-Ungheni, valued at nearly 1 billion euros. The contract was awarded after UMB initially contested the results of the bidding, with the court ordering a reevaluation of the offers. The National Company for Road Investments announced that the winning bid is 4.87 billion lei (approximately 954 million euros). The section is 27 kilometers long and includes 36 bridges, 4 tunnels, and 3 interchanges. The contractor commits to completing a segment of 5.5 kilometers within 12 months to ensure the connection with the Moldova A7 Highway. UMB is already involved in the construction of the Moțca-Leghin section and the interchange between A8 and A7.
