A 25-year-old Ukrainian man was rescued by the mountain rescuers from Maramureș after a difficult operation, being found in serious condition on the mountain. Diabetic and insulin-dependent, the man was left by a compatriot who went to seek help. He told the rescuers that he did not believe the young man was dead, but that his condition was very precarious.
The rescuers found him in a different location than initially reported, provided first aid, and carried him down on a stretcher to the extraction point by helicopter. After stabilization by the doctor on the SMURD helicopter, the young man was transported to the Emergency Hospital in Baia Mare. During the mission, the rescuers also encountered another 55-year-old man, who had accompanied the young man but ignored recommendations to stay in the area. Additionally, the rescuers found five other Ukrainian citizens on the descent route, who were taken over by the Border Police.
