DIICOT prosecutors have detained a Ukrainian and a Romanian for international and domestic trafficking of risk and high-risk drugs.

The two men are accused of having introduced into the country a significant amount of banned substances, hiding in their car 26 kilograms of cannabis and 4 kilograms of cocaine. Investigators have established that the suspects crossed the border at the Nădlac border point, having modified the car to conceal the drugs. The illegal transport was stopped on the A1 Highway, where the 57-year-old man was caught in the act.

DIICOT prosecutors will request the preventive arrest of the two for 30 days, and the case will be presented to a judge of rights and freedoms at the Bucharest Tribunal. Authorities emphasize that the suspects benefit from the presumption of innocence at this stage of the criminal process, and their capture was made possible due to collaboration between various police structures.
