Two Romanian citizens and a Colombian citizen, aged between 27 and 37, were caught red-handed on Monday in the municipality of Brașov while allegedly possessing approximately 300 grams of cocaine intended for sale. The drugs were allegedly worth €24,000.
According to the Brașov County Police Inspectorate, the substances were found on the three men. Other substances were also found in the car in which they had allegedly been traveling; these are to be analyzed as part of an expert examination.
The three were detained on Monday by prosecutors from the Brașov Territorial Service of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). On Tuesday, the prosecutors petitioned the judge for rights and freedoms at the Brașov Tribunal for a 30-day pretrial detention order.
The investigation is being conducted by officers of the Brașov Brigade for Combating Organized Crime, under the coordination of DIICOT prosecutors. The three are being investigated for high-risk drug trafficking, as perpetrators and accomplices. Until a final decision is issued, they benefit from the presumption of innocence.
