Tanczos Barna, the interim Minister of Agriculture and UDMR Deputy Prime Minister, announced on Tuesday the initiation of new support programs for pig and cattle breeders, as well as the submission of a draft law aimed at combating African swine fever.
According to the minister, cattle breeders are set to receive support of 68 euros for each eligible animal, while pig breeders will benefit from aid calculated based on the capacity of the farms, approximately 12 euros for places designated for fattening pigs and up to 14 euros for breeding animals.
The proposed draft law introduces stricter measures to limit the spread of African swine fever, including penalties for the illegal transport and trade of live animals and the confiscation of means of transport used. Additionally, it provides for further measures to control the disease in the wild boar population.
