Two Romanians were stopped at the border with Bulgaria, one was shot by Bulgarian border guards.

The two men allegedly swam across the Danube to an island on the Bulgarian side, where one of them was shot by Bulgarian border guards. The Bulgarian authorities opened an investigation and the wounded man was taken to the Romanian side of the Danube in a serious condition.
