Two minors aged 11 and 13 from Vâlcea County are being investigated for intentionally killing and injuring animals after allegedly filming themselves assaulting seven puppies in an abandoned site in the town of Berbești.
According to investigators, the children allegedly used a knife and large stones. A third minor allegedly filmed the scenes and broadcast them live on social media. Three of the animals were killed, while four others were seriously injured.
Police officers from the Animal Protection Unit identified the perpetrators and opened a criminal case against the two minors for the intentional killing and injuring of animals. The case is being handled by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Horezu District Court.
The investigation is expected to be closed in the case of the two minors because children under the age of 14 are not criminally liable. Police notified the Vâlcea General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection so that the minors could be included in a psychological counseling program. Their parents were each fined 500 lei for failing to supervise their children.
