Two tourists from Ploiești lost their lives after slipping on a steep slope in the Făgăraș Mountains, while a third was rescued by a SMURD helicopter crew.

On Saturday, in the area of Netedu Peak in the Făgăraș Mountains, a tragic accident led to the death of two people, while a third was rescued.

The three men, from Ploiești, slipped hundreds of meters down a steep slope. One of them managed to survive and was transported by SMURD helicopter to Bâlea Lake, being in stable condition. The two deceased, aged 35 and 50, could not be recovered due to the difficult terrain and unfavorable weather conditions.

The operation to recover the bodies will resume on Sunday, and the authorities mentioned that the victims were not properly equipped for winter conditions.
