Two 15-year-old teenagers have been sent to trial for qualified murder and desecration of corpses, in the case of the murder of Mario Berinde, while a third 13-year-old teenager is not criminally liable.

Two 15-year-old teenagers, M.D.A. and B.R.P., have been sent to trial in preventive detention for the murder of Mario Berinde, a 15-year-old boy from Cenei, Timiș County. The third teenager involved, R.M.D., aged 13, is not criminally responsible and is in placement in a specialized center.

According to prosecutors, on the night of January 19, 2026, M.D.A. and R.M.D. devised an attack plan, killing Mario with a hatchet and a knife. After the murder, M.D.A. and R.M.D. desecrated the victim's body, setting it on fire and burying it in a garden, with the help of B.R.P., who tried to conceal the traces of the crime. R.M.D. was classified as not criminally responsible due to his age.
