Donald Trump started the New Year celebrations with a message on social media in which he supports Tina Peters, a former election official from Colorado, convicted of orchestrating a data breach related to the alleged electoral fraud of 2020. Peters, at the age of 73, is in a maximum-security prison and has been charged with state crimes. Trump criticized the Democratic governor Jared Polis and Republican prosecutor Dan Rubinstein, calling them "scumbag" and "RINO." Although he issued a pardon for Peters, it does not apply to state crimes. Her lawyers have asked the court to recognize the pardon, arguing that the judge who convicted her violated her constitutional rights. It is noted that Peters was accused of allowing a man to access the electoral system using a security card.
