The train circulation between Timișoara and Arad has been stopped after the collapse of the framework of a passage under construction. Three trains are affected, but there are no victims.

On Monday, the train service between Timișoara and Arad was suspended due to the collapse of a formwork over the railway, an incident that occurred at the construction site for the modernization of the Caransebeș – Lugoj – Timișoara – Arad line, in the area of the locality Carani, Timiș County.

The formwork was part of the construction of a road overpass, and the reinforcement was to be strengthened by pouring concrete. Although the incident did not cause any injuries, rail traffic is blocked, affecting train 1539 Oradea – Timișoara and two other InterRegio trains. The modernization of the railway line on Lot 4 Ronat Triaj – Arad, which aims to increase speed and safety of traffic, is at an execution stage of 25%, with the works being carried out by an Italian consortium.
