A 22-year-old man died at Piața Unirii 2 station after allegedly throwing himself in front of the subway.

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, a serious incident occurred at the Piața Unirii 2 subway station in Bucharest, where a 22-year-old man fell under a subway train. Emergency crews from ISU Bucharest - Ilfov, police from the Public Transport Police Brigade, and SMURD medical personnel intervened at the scene. Despite the efforts made, the young man was declared dead. The Capital Police stated that the incident was reported around 3:30 PM and that the circumstances in which it occurred are being investigated. Metrorex announced that train traffic has been reorganized, and an investigation has been opened to clarify the details of the event. Passengers were informed about the situation through the station and train sound system.
