A 39-year-old man on remand for attempted rape hanged himself after his arrest warrant was extended.

The man, a guard at a station in Arges, was accused of trying to rape a 19-year-old girl. Arrested for 30 days, he committed suicide in his cell after being told that his detention had been extended. The doctors called to his cell were unable to revive him. The police ordered internal investigations following the incident.
