The Timișoara City Hall proposes a project to reorganize adult entertainment, which includes the creation of a 'red district' on the outskirts of the city. This initiative aims to relocate gambling halls, bars, and other nightlife businesses to industrial areas, in order to reduce the negative social impact on residential communities and educational institutions.

Mayor Dominic Fritz emphasized that operators will have the freedom to conduct their activities in these dedicated areas, similar to a 'mini Las Vegas'. Currently, Timișoara has 173 licensed gambling halls, many of which are located less than 500 meters from schools. The proposal will be voted on by local councilors, and if approved, there will be a one-year transition period for relocating the halls from residential areas.
