Three workers died on Friday, September 18, 2026, in the village of Valea Verde, Sohodol commune, Alba County, after being electrocuted during maintenance work at a holiday home. The three men, aged 35, 37 and 54, were from Sălaj County.
The incident occurred at around 11:00 a.m. According to initial information, the workers were carrying out maintenance and varnishing work on the exterior walls when they allegedly touched high-voltage wires with scaffolding. Following the electrocution, they fell to the ground and went into cardiopulmonary arrest.
Firefighters from the Câmpeni Fire Station responded to the scene, along with a fire engine, a first-aid crew and two ambulances from the County Ambulance Service. A SMURD helicopter was later dispatched to assist. Medical crews performed resuscitation maneuvers, but none of the workers responded, and the helicopter doctor pronounced them dead.
Children’s camps were being held at the property. Police have opened an investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the tragedy. The investigation is continuing into the offense of involuntary manslaughter.
