A CFR employee died in Zoița, Buzău / The man was reportedly electrocuted while working on the overhead contact line

A 36-year-old electromechanic died on Wednesday, September 16, after reportedly being electrocuted during technical maintenance work on the contact line, in the area of the Zoita railway yard, Buzău County. The incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m., at railway kilometer 159+169, on Main Line 500.

According to the Galați Regional Railway Branch, the employee was part of the Râmnicu Sărat Contact Line District. Track I was already closed for scheduled work, and, following the incident, the authorities ordered the temporary closure of Track II as well to conduct the investigation.

ISU Buzău, SMURD and the County Ambulance Service dispatched crews to the scene. Rescuers performed resuscitation maneuvers, but the man did not respond, and his death was subsequently pronounced.

Rail traffic on Main Line 500 was temporarily suspended in the Zoita area and resumed at 1:00 p.m. The competent authorities are investigating to establish the exact circumstances and causes of the accident.
