The Bucharest Court of Appeal has decided to place three suspects involved in a criminal group under preventive arrest for 30 days, who fraudulently obtained work seniority for numerous individuals, causing the Pension House a loss of 12.5 million lei.
The action was the result of 30 searches carried out by the Bucharest Organized Crime and Anti-Terrorism Directorate (BCCO) and DIICOT, in various locations in Bucharest and neighboring counties. The group, active since 2018, used false tax documents to create a fictitious work history, allowing beneficiaries to obtain pensions based on false data. Members of the group used nonprofit associations and fictitious companies to input false information into the ANAF systems.
So far, it has been found that over 860 individuals benefited from unreal seniority, and 170 have applied for pensions based on these documents. The investigation continues, and authorities are collaborating with various institutions to combat this fraud.
