The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, Horațiu Cosma, announced that on the sections Focșani – Bacău – Pașcani of the Moldova Highway A7, 5,000 workers and over 1,000 machines are working intensively, in order to meet the deadlines from the PNRR for the reimbursement of European funding.
Every day, over 10,000 tons of asphalt are laid and tens of thousands of tons of fill are used. The contractor UMB, through the association SA&PE Construct, has contracts for the lots Bacău – Pașcani, signed in February 2023, and the deadline for completing the works is August 2026.
Cosma emphasized the importance of opening traffic on the entire highway by the end of the year, which would reduce the travel time from Bucharest to Pașcani to approximately three hours.
Although the works on the Focșani – Bacău section are advanced, the Bacău – Pașcani section requires an acceleration of the pace to meet the deadlines.
The A7 highway is essential for improving the road infrastructure in Moldova and for connecting it with the rest of the country.
