The Actors' Union of the National Theatre 'I.L. Caragiale' Bucharest has requested the resignation of the Minister of Culture, András Demeter, citing behaviors incompatible with his public function and decisions that severely affect the credibility of cultural institutions in Romania. Representatives of the actors accuse the minister of publicly insulting professionals in the field and of modifying the criteria for participation in management competitions in a discriminatory manner, which has led to doubts about their legitimacy. They also emphasize the problems generated by the ministry's intention to abolish the National Institute of Heritage and to issue inadequate bureaucratic regulations for artistic activity. The union demands the appointment of a new competent minister who will respect professionals in the cultural field.
