Kelemen Hunor, the president of UDMR, requested the resignation of Demeter András István from the position of Minister of Culture, after an audio recording emerged in which he uses vulgar language regarding national interest. In a message on Facebook, Hunor emphasized that the minister's statements are unacceptable and that there is no place for such language in the political community.

He also demanded that Demeter apologize to all those he offended, including members of the Hungarian community. Following the scandal, Demeter András István announced that he would resign from the ministerial position, mentioning that he does not remember using those words, but that he will verify the authenticity of the recording. He acknowledged that a discussion on this topic could have taken place, but not in the terms used in the recording.
