The lawyers of brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate requested on Friday from an American judge, Lauren Louis, to release them on bail from the Miami jail, where they have been held since July 18.

They are trying to block the extradition requested by the British Government, which accuses them of rape, assault, and human trafficking. The lawyers argue that the "extraordinary public visibility" of the Tate brothers makes escape impossible, which is why they request their release on the condition of surrendering their passports and monitoring their location.

The Tate brothers, former kickboxers with American and British citizenship, have denied the allegations and have built a network of online followers, promoting controversial opinions. Prosecutors in Miami must respond to the bail request by August 10, and the hearing is scheduled for August 13. The extradition process could take months, with London having a deadline until September 16 to submit the complete request.
