Alexandru Nazare, the Minister of Finance, stated that the suspension of the procedure for halting European funds for Romania is a significant step, both symbolically and reputationally.

This suspension, considered a negative premiere for the country, was initiated following the evaluations of the European Commission, which found non-compliances in Romania's reporting. Following the measures taken by Romania to reduce the budget deficit, the European Commission decided to lift this procedure, which will allow Romania to no longer have issues in future negotiations in Brussels. Nazare emphasized that this decision closes a negative cycle and will facilitate future evaluations of the country's macroeconomic indicators. The evaluation by the European Commission will continue in the spring, but without the risk of suspending funds.
