The gas-fired combined cycle power plant of OMV Petrom in Brazi was shut down due to a lack of technological water, but the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announced that the national energy system has been stabilized by using other production capacities. With an installed capacity of 860 MW, the plant contributes approximately 10% to the national electricity production. Bogdan Ivan assured that the shutdown was compensated through market mechanisms, using the available capacities from CE Oltenia and Hidroelectrica. Additionally, the group from CET Paroșeni has been prepared for restart, and Group 6 Rovinari will be reconnected to the SEN. The minister mentioned that coal stocks are sufficient and that the Petrobrazi refinery is operating normally, having secured the necessary water flow. The Brazi plant will be restarted as soon as safety conditions are met, and the energy system remains stable and ready for any scenario. At the time of reporting, Romania had a consumption of 8,188 MW and a production of 7,216 MW, with the difference covered by imports.
