The Senate adopted on Monday the legislative proposal "Life in the Countryside", which aims to promote agritourism and capitalize on the cultural and natural heritage of rural areas. The project, signed by parliamentarians from PNL, PSD, and UDMR, will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies for approval.
The initiators emphasize that Romania has a unique rural heritage, but it is insufficiently capitalized due to depopulation and lack of economic opportunities.
The law proposes to simplify the legal framework to allow rural households to receive tourists and present specific activities. Among the measures are the establishment of a Local Producers Register, the creation of an online platform for reservations, and the establishment of a favorable tax regime.
The adoption of the law could stimulate sustainable development in rural areas and diversify income for local communities.
