The Senate recently adopted important amendments to the Labor Code, which establish a clear legal definition for workplace harassment. These regulations extend the protection of victims not only in the physical workplace but also in contexts such as online communications and business trips. The law prohibits violence and harassment in employment relationships, defining unacceptable behaviors that affect the dignity of employees.

Employers will be required to implement prevention and protection measures, including training for employees. Additionally, employers must designate a person responsible for preventing harassment, which raises questions about employees' trust in reporting abuses. Oana Botolan, an expert in HR consulting, emphasizes that although these regulations are useful, they may generate additional bureaucracy.

Non-compliance with the new regulations can result in fines ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 lei, highlighting the importance of the correct application of the law.
