The head of the Romanian Police, Chief Commissioner Benone Marian Matei, announced the opening of a criminal case regarding a woman killed by her husband, who had previously reported rape and abduction, under conditions where a protection order existed. Following the incident in Teleorman, the Police initiated nationwide checks to assess the management of domestic violence cases. Matei emphasized the importance of monitoring aggressors through electronic devices, urging victims to accept these measures.
The Deputy Inspector General, Chief Commissioner Eduard Mirișescu, detailed the institutional efforts to combat domestic violence, including the periodic assessment of cases and the digitization of processes. Additionally, deadlines were established for verifying reported issues, with the aim of improving the Police's response in such situations.
