The Romanian Police, together with the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, launched on Monday a large-scale action at the national level, aimed at dismantling networks that commit crimes in the field of intellectual property rights. This action coincides with the International Intellectual Property Day, celebrated annually on April 26, and aims to protect the business environment from anti-competitive practices.
Authorities have opened 76 criminal cases, executing 185 search warrants and 25 summons. The actions mainly target acts that violate legislation regarding trademarks and copyright, including counterfeiting and piracy. Additionally, in 17 counties, operational actions are underway to catch individuals involved in these illegal activities red-handed.
The operation "Jupiter" is part of the national strategic plan to combat economic crime, and authorities promise to provide additional details during the course of the action.
