In a statement, the Church emphasizes that the legalization of prostitution will not eradicate human trafficking or sexual exploitation, but will contribute to the moral degradation of society. Additionally, the Patriarchate asserts that the state must regulate the situation to protect human dignity. On the other hand, PNL parliamentarian Ion Iordache has initiated a bill aimed at authorizing and controlling sexual activities, arguing that regulation is necessary to protect public health and combat human trafficking. The bill provides for periodic medical checks, strict rules for the placement of activity spaces, and activities carried out exclusively by adult, voluntary, and authorized individuals.
