The Romanian passport ranks 6th in the global passport ranking, with a mobility score of 171 points, thus surpassing countries such as the USA, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This document allows access to 120 countries without prior formalities, covering 86% of the globe. The United Arab Emirates leads the ranking with 181 points, and Romania enjoys a historic position. Holders of the Romanian passport can travel without a visa to exotic destinations in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, including Japan, South Korea, and South Africa. However, the Anglo-Saxon area remains problematic, with the USA maintaining the visa requirement. Romania was supposed to enter the Visa Waiver program in 2025, but the decision was suspended by the Trump administration. In Latin America, the only exception is Guyana, where a visa can be obtained upon entry.
