In the context of the energy crisis, Ilie Bolojan announced the creation of a national operational center that will include representatives of the main energy producers and suppliers in Romania. This announcement was made during a press conference, following the adoption of a regulatory act in the government meeting on Thursday, which contains measures to limit energy consumption.
The executive will meet on Friday to authorize Transelectrica to disconnect industrial consumers from the national energy system, if necessary. Bolojan emphasized that households and residential consumers, including hospitals, will not be affected by these measures.
“I emphasize that personal households, citizens, will not be limited or disconnected, so residential consumers are exempt from these measures, as well as consumers whose activity cannot be interrupted, such as hospitals, sanatoriums, or other activities that cannot be interrupted, stations that supply gas units, and so on, will not be included in this regulation,” said Ilie Bolojan.
He also mentioned that problems could arise if the nuclear power plant in Cernavodă does not operate properly or if energy imports stop. The government has adopted preparedness measures for various risks, including drought, and thanked companies that have voluntarily reduced energy consumption.
