The Ministry of National Defense is requesting compensation of 40 million euros from Otokar for the delay in the delivery of armored vehicles according to a contract from 2024.

The Ministry of National Defense, through Romtehnica, has requested compensation of nearly 40 million euros from the Turkish company Otokar, accusing delays in the delivery of armored vehicles. In November 2024, Romtehnica and Otokar signed a contract worth 4.26 billion lei (approximately 857 million euros) for the supply of 1,059 COBRA II tactical armored 4x4 vehicles.

According to the contract, deliveries were supposed to be completed within 5 years, but Romtehnica reported the failure to meet intermediate objectives and the delay in the delivery of 194 units from the first batch. Although Otokar contested the compensation claims in court, the company will still make the payment due. Otokar, part of the Koç group, is a supplier of military vehicles for NATO and the UN, having a significant impact on the Turkish economy.
