The project to electrify the 25-kilometre-long Iasi - Ungheni railway has been selected for non-reimbursable funding from the European Commission. The modernization will increase travel speed, reduce travel time and provide an environmentally friendly alternative to road transport. Works are scheduled to start in June 2026, with an estimated completion in June 2028.
