The interim Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, announced that the RABLA 2023 program will start on July 20, without restrictions for cars manufactured or assembled in the European Union, in order to avoid delays in approval from the European Commission. The budget for the program is 300 million lei, and Romanians who scrap an old car can receive vouchers ranging between 10,000 and 18,500 lei, depending on the type of vehicle purchased.

Buzoianu explained that introducing the criterion for EU cars would have required a consultation that would have delayed the program by approximately three months. The priority was to launch the program without delays, and discussions for modifying the criteria will continue for the next edition. The minister also assured that the program will not be affected by the interim status of the Government, being managed under the same conditions as last year.
