The parents of a girl affected by a medical error at the County Hospital of Craiova will be compensated with 300,000 euros following a court decision in 7 years.

A medical error committed in 2018 at the Craiova County Emergency Hospital had devastating consequences for a girl, who was infected with the E. coli bacteria after a nurse administered an incorrect infusion. This led to lifelong sequelae for the child. After years of lawsuits, the court decided that the family should receive compensation of 300,000 euros for moral damages. The hospital management contested the decision, but the High Court upheld it, obliging the hospital to pay the amount. The hospital intends to recover the money from the nurse responsible for the incident.
