A surgeon at the Sinaia Hospital is facing malpractice allegations after a 34-year-old woman fell into a coma following a routine surgical procedure. The patient experienced post-operative complications and was transferred to the Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest, where her condition was assessed as serious, being kept alive with the help of machines. The same allegations also concern the respective doctor, who in 2018 forgot sterile dressings in the abdomen of a 10-year-old girl, which led to the opening of a criminal case that was later closed. The Sinaia Hospital stated that the intervention was initially favorable but will initiate an internal investigation. The patient's family is considering filing a malpractice case against the doctor.
