In May 2025, the number of occupied posts in public institutions in Romania fell to 1,305,361, 873 fewer than in the previous month.

According to data from the Ministry of Finance, in May 2025, the public sector in Romania had 1,305,361 occupied posts, a decrease of 873 compared to April. About 64% of these posts were in the central public administration, the majority of which were in the Ministry of Education (308,529), followed by the Ministry of Interior (125,534) and the Ministry of National Defense (75,888). In the local public administration, there were 468,931 employees, a decrease of 536 from the previous month.
