For the position of chief prosecutor of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, the Ministry of Justice has proposed prosecutor Codrin-Horațiu Miron.

Cristina Chiriac comes from DNA Iași and is associated with several controversies, including the case of sexual abuse by the former bishop of Huși, although she also has high-profile cases in her record.
A former judicial police officer from DNA Iași accused her of keeping "in the drawer" CDs with images that would have proven the sexual abuses committed by Bishop Corneliu Bârlădeanu against students, without separating the case and sending it to the competent prosecutor's office. The investigations "Let there be light" and subsequent reports presented this inaction as a cover-up, with the case being reopened only in 2019 and subsequently leading to the conviction of the former bishop.
Who is Viorel Cerbu

He has nearly three decades of experience, having entered the judiciary at the end of 1996.
He worked for many years in DNA, including in major corruption cases, and held leadership positions within the structure.
Since the summer of 2023, he has been (by delegation) deputy chief prosecutor of DNA, from which the proposal for leadership now comes. The Ministry of Justice justifies its choice by "very rich professional experience," combining criminal prosecution experience with judicial management and understanding the specifics of DNA.
In the interview for the leadership of DNA and in the management project, Cerbu proposed a paradigm shift: DNA should be perceived less as an "institution of force" and more as a social partner, with an emphasis on transparency, recovering the proceeds of crime, and prioritizing major corruption cases.
Who is Codrin-Horațiu Miron
Codrin-Horațiu Miron, proposed as head of DIICOT, is a career prosecutor, having entered the judiciary in 1996, specialized in criminality, handling cases of international drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime, and macro-economic crime, leading in turn the Territorial Office of Arad and the Territorial Service of Timișoara. He also has an academic career at the Faculty of Law and promises a "total offensive" against drugs and a more visible DIICOT, focused on high-impact cases and on "follow the money."
