The National Operetta and Musical Theatre 'Ion Dacian' reported for the year 2025 its own revenues of 4.3 million lei, attracting approximately 50,000 spectators and contributing 30% to the national musical theatre production.
These performances were achieved in a context of budgetary austerity, with a budget adopted only at the end of March and cuts of over 20% to subsidies for goods and services. Despite these challenges, ticket revenues increased by 65%, and those from partnerships by 75%.
The theatre recorded the highest increase in its own revenues among the musical institutions subsidized by the Ministry of Culture, with a growth of 67%. It also ranks second in terms of ticket sales revenue, with 3.8 million lei.
Compared to European institutions such as the Opéra-Comique in Paris and the Volksoper in Vienna, its efficiency is remarkable, having a hall three times smaller. Among the notable artistic achievements is the musical 'Romeo and Juliet', which had 32 performances and gross revenues of 1.4 million lei, as well as the festival 'Re: Strauss', dedicated to the bicentenary of Johann Strauss II.
