The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has issued a travel warning for Jamaica, where Hurricane Melissa is forecasted to reach Category I intensity between October 25-27, 2025. Local authorities have activated emergency plans in anticipation of the storm.


MAE advises Romanian citizens who are in Jamaica or who intend to travel there to follow the instructions of local authorities, including in the event of possible evacuations. Additionally, Romanians are encouraged to seek information from official sources, such as the National Meteorological Institute of Jamaica and the National Hurricane Center of the USA. Those facing emergency situations can contact the Romanian Embassy in Havana at the emergency number +53 5286 8386.
