The MFA's reaction after Iran threatened Romania

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Romania reacted to the statements of the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, who claimed that the use of military bases in Romania by the USA would equate to Romania's participation in a military aggression against Iran.

The MFA emphasized that the bilateral agreement from 2006 allows the USA to use military bases in Romania continuously, and the missile defense systems hosted by Romania have a strictly defensive nature, according to the UN Charter. The MFA also reaffirmed that Romania is not part of the conflict and condemned Iran's attacks on states in the Gulf region, calling for their cessation to protect human lives and maintain global security.
