On January 14, Minister Oana Ţoiu convened a meeting with the MAE team, including Romania's ambassador to Iran, Mirela Grecu, to analyze the situation and assess diplomatic action options. A priority was ensuring the preparedness of diplomatic missions to respond effectively to any scenario. The MAE expressed concerns regarding the violence and repression against protesters in Iran, reaffirming Romania's commitment to freedom of expression. The protection of Romanian citizens in Iran remains a priority, and the MAE is prepared to provide rapid consular assistance, maintaining constant contact with the approximately 400 Romanians in the country.
