The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued clarifications after Minister Oana Ţoiu was accused of diplomatic gaffes during a statement in London. Ţoiu stated that she had nothing new to say and that all countries wish to be part of the European Union or to remain in it, in the context of the United Kingdom leaving the community bloc. The MFA explained that the first statement was an introduction meant to draw attention to the main message, while the second was an example of "conscious diplomatic humor."

MFA officials emphasized that Ţoiu continued to reaffirm known positions, including international solidarity. The MFA also made the entire transcript of the speech available to clarify the context and combat misinterpretations. Additionally, the MFA mentioned that the minister's reaction to the post-Brexit situation was a way of connecting with the British audience, which responded positively. The institution highlighted the importance of transparency and wanted to emphasize Romania's role in international discussions, considering that the event brought together over 200 experts and diplomats.
