The Ministry of Energy has announced that, due to the energy crisis generated by the severe drought and the low level of the Danube, household consumers, companies, public institutions, and prosumers are encouraged to voluntarily reduce electricity consumption between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM, until August 31, 2026.
This preventive measure aims to protect the electricity supply and avoid the implementation of restrictive measures. The flow of the Danube has reached historically low values, and Unit 1 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant has been shut down in a controlled manner. The Ministry, together with the involved authorities, is working to maintain the balance in the National Energy System. The recommendations focus on rescheduling high-consumption activities and shutting down unused equipment, without affecting the health and safety of the population. These measures are temporary and voluntary, aimed at navigating this difficult period without interruptions.
