The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, declared that Romania will undergo a reclassification of hospitals, which will reorganize the services available to patients. He emphasized that this measure will not lead to the closure of medical units, but rather to a better alignment of the services offered.
Currently, there are eight categories of public hospitals, each with its own rules and tariffs, which has generated confusion. The new structure will reduce the number of categories to four, focusing on strategically important hospitals capable of responding effectively in emergency situations. Rogobete highlighted the importance of developing specialized outpatient services and mentioned that the hospital in Timișoara, where he recently visited, is an example of the necessary infrastructure.
