The Minister of Culture, Demeter Andras Istvan, declared on Tuesday, during the protest of the actors at the National Theatre of Bucharest, that he is withdrawing the pilot project that required artists to prepare activity reports.

The ministry had recently published instructions for organizing working hours in performing arts institutions, following a recommendation from the Court of Accounts. Demeter explained that these instructions do not affect the ongoing activities but refer to unperformed hours, aiming to recognize the preparation of artists even in their physical absence. UNITER contested the initiative, considering it a form of bureaucratization and devaluation of art.

The minister specified that the issue will need to be addressed later, considering that the necessity of proving artistic activity has not been eliminated.
