The Merops anti-drone system, provided to Romania by the United States under the Strategic Partnership, has been operationalized and integrated into the defense device of the Romanian Army.

Before being put into service, the system underwent testing, evaluation, and operational validation stages. The Defense Staff constantly adapts the surveillance and airspace defense system to improve response capacity and protect the population.

Merops uses artificial intelligence algorithms to detect, track, and neutralize small aerial targets at low altitudes. The integration of this system enhances the capabilities of the Romanian Army in countering threats posed by drones, complementing existing measures to protect national airspace.

The Army continues to develop and modernize air defense capabilities, collaborating with allies to respond to security challenges and ensure the protection of citizens and national territory.
