The Local Council of Sector 1 purchased Casa Petrescu for 1.7 million euros, with the aim of transforming it into an educational and cultural center.

The transaction, intermediated by Romania Sotheby's International Realty, was completed at a price of 1.7 million euros, although the market evaluation exceeded 2.1 million euros.

The building, constructed in 1895, has a land area of 682 square meters and 1,656 square meters built. Over time, Casa Petrescu has had various commercial uses, including during the communist period.

Currently, there is a restoration project aimed at the facade, interior redesign, and transforming the attic into a loft. The house retains original architectural elements and decorative details, evoking the atmosphere of musical evenings from the past.

Dimitrie Petrescu was a professor at the University of Bucharest and contributed to the establishment of the Central University Library.
