Cristian Radu, the mayor of Mangalia, has been sent to trial for bribery of over 600,000 euros, charges of money laundering, and incitement to the abusive use of public property.

This person is accused of obtaining over 600,000 euros, money used for purchasing a hotel and luxury clothes. Prosecutors have requested the confiscation of 2,183,199.15 lei, an amount that Radu cannot justify. The bribe is said to have been solicited from economic operators for building permits, and the money was allegedly collected with the help of intermediaries. Additionally, Radu is said to have purchased luxury clothes worth 42,000 euros, delivered directly to the City Hall. In 2023, he reached an agreement for the purchase of a hotel for 4.5 million euros, a complicated transaction involving false documents. He also purchased two BMW cars with the money of a company, used exclusively by him.
