Liviu-Ștefan Tomulea, the mayor of the Iecea Mare commune in Timiș County, has been sent to trial by prosecutors from the Prosecutor's Office next to the Timișoara Court for the crime of failing to recover damages. He did not take measures to recover 153,234 lei, an amount established by the Court of Accounts following an audit conducted between October 25, 2023, and April 17, 2024.
According to the report, the mayor, in his capacity as the main budgetary authority, did not implement the recommendations of the Court of Accounts, which led to damage to the local budget. The audit revealed significant errors in financial management, including the non-collection of budgetary receivables and the incorrect assessment of taxes on means of transport. The recommendations of the Court of Accounts remained unfulfilled until October 31, 2024, and the mayor is now facing the court to respond to these accusations.
